OSRAM Opto Semiconductors implements uniform data format
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, together with other LED manufacturers and software houses, initiated work on a global industry standard for ray files at the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), the US standardization authority. Uniform data formats for ray files, which describe the light emitted by an LED, means huge savings in terms of work and time for customers.
Currently there are a large number of different programs and data formats for working with ray files. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, together with various partners, aimed to create a standardized data format for ray files that all programs can use. The Regensburg-based company has now implemented the new standard, IES TM-25-13, in its own product portfolio.
To make it easier for customers to adapt the optics and at the same time achieve results that more accurately reflect the simulation, the ray offerings from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors in the new format will be extended from 5 million to 20 million rays.
