OSRAM LED wins award from French magazine
“Electron d‘Or” – Golden Electron – is the name of the annual award from the French magazine “ElectroniqueS” for the most promising start-up and the best products of the year. At this year’s 17th award ceremony the latest generation of OSLON Square LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors came out top in the Opto-Electronic category.
According to the jury, which comprised representatives from research, industry and sales in addition to editors from the magazine, the main reason for the award was the combination of properties in an LED for home lighting, which until now has not been seen in this form. The OSLON Square combines very low thermal resistance, a luminous flux at 3000 K of 202 lumen and a CRI in excess of 80 with long lifetime of more than 50,000 hours and a warm white or cold white color, depending on the particular version. Thanks to its excellent thermal resistance, the LED is particularly good at withstanding high ambient temperatures. Also, the colors of multiple LEDs in a luminaire remain uniform even at high temperatures because the LEDs are measured and binned at 85 degrees Celsius (°C).
In the Opto-Electronic category, the OSRAM LED was placed ahead of high-quality competitor products from Philips, Cree and Toshiba. This is the second time that OSRAM has won the “Electron d‘Or”. In 2010 it was presented for the ORBEOS OLED module.
