OSRAM Opto Semiconductors (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. has established its presence in Penang more than three decades. We were one of the pioneer companies to be set up on the island, widely recognized as the Silicon Valley of the east and home to many of the world’s multinational corporations. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of optoelectronic semiconductors for the illumination, sensing and visualization sectors, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH combines the extensive know-how in semiconductors, converter materials and packages under one roof.
In 2009, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors expanded its manufacturing capabilities for ultra high brightness LED chips by transferring technology from Germany to Penang. The Penang facility is now the world’s first dedicated 4″ sapphire wafer manufacturing plant for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.
